The following actions are available on the dossier page depending on your permissions:

Table 1: FILE

Action

Description

New Dossier

To create a new customized dossier.

Open

To open another dossier.

Tip:

Use this option to open any dossier from an existing dossier without browsing the dossier path from the top navigation panel.

Save As

To save a copy of the dossier.

Change Prompt Option and Save

To clear the cache from the input prompts that you entered to run the dossier.

Save As

To save a copy of the dossier with a different name.

Export to PDF

To export the dossier in PDF format.

SHARE

To share the dossier generated through an email link or embedded links in a web page.

Print

To print the dossier using Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF).

Download Dossier

To download the entire dossier in .mstr file format.

Download the dossier to reuse it in your i-server, lab, or machine without migrating the package.

Import Dossier

To add a dossier as a chapter in another dossier.

Add to History List

To send a dossier to the History List, to be saved for future reference.

Schedule Delivery to History List

To send a dossier to the History List page. This page specifies a folder to store dossiers on a specific schedule.

Schedule Delivery to E-mail

To send a dossier to a pre-configured email address on a specific schedule.

Send Now

To send a dossier to any email address.

Create Personal View

To create and save a personal view of the dossier generated on a given date and time.

Re-prompt

To change the filter selection parameters.

Dossier Properties

To view and change the dossier properties.

Close

To close the FILE option.

Browse Objects

To browse objects for adding in the dossier.

Add Data

To add data to customize an existing dossier. The options are:

  • New Data: To add a data from your local machine or external database.

  • Existing Datasets: To add existing datasets to the datasets panel. You can add multiple datasets at a time.

  • Existing Objects: To add existing objects from your environment to a dossier.

Themes

To change the theme of the entire dossier. The options are:

  • Default Theme

  • Classic Theme

Palettes

To choose the color scheme of your visualizations. Each dossier contains built-in color palettes. You can also create custom color palettes.

Format Selected Container

To change the format of the individual containers in the dossier. You must select the container to make the required format changes, such as title, border, position, and size.

Dossier Formatting

To change the entire look of the dossier. You can make format changes, such as page style, container title bar, and fonts.

Contents Panel

To change the display of the contents panel to the following views:

  • List View: Displays the contents panel with all chapters and pages in an expandable tree format.

  • Tab View - Top: Displays a list of tabs above the dossier for each chapter.

  • Tab View - Bottom: Displays a list of tabs below the dossier for each chapter.

Datasets Panel

To do the following:

  • Add datasets to a dossier

  • Add an existing dataset

  • Search for objects in the datasets panel

  • Add existing objects

  • Add multiple datasets

  • Select the datasets that determine the available values of a dossier

  • Edit datasets

  • Replace datasets with imported data

Editor Panel

To do the following:

  • Rename a visualization

  • Add, replace, or remove data from a visualization

  • Move rows or columns in a grid

  • Sort data in a grid using multiple objects

  • Add subtotals to a grid

  • Swap objects in a dossier

  • Add subtotals to a grid

  • Add and rearrange data in a graph visualization

  • Add multiple conditions to a threshold in the advanced thresholds editor

  • Select attribute forms to display in a visualization

  • Create a derived attribute

  • Create a threshold on a metric using the quick thresholds editor

Filter Panel

To do the following:

  • Create dossier or chapter filters

  • Create and edit a visualization-based filter for a chapter

  • Apply dossier or chapter filter changes

  • Target other attribute filters within a chapter with attribute filters

Format Panel

To do the following:

  • Format different visualizations

  • Format text

  • Format images

Visualization Gallery

To create visualizations for displaying your data in a dossier.

Layers Panel

To access overlapping visualizations or containers while using free form layout to:

  • Rename layers

  • Rearrange layers to create a specific design

  • Select multiple layers to group and ungroup them

  • Select layers to modify them on the Editor, Filter, and Format panels

  • Duplicate and move layers that correspond to your visualizations, images, and text boxes

Enter Presentation Mode

To view the dossier in presentation mode. You cannot make any changes to the dossier in this mode.

To change the dossier back to editable mode, navigate to the toolbar, and click the Edit icon.

To add a chapter or chapters to an existing dossier.

Each chapter contains one or more pages.

Add page icon

Add page

To add a page or pages to an existing chapter in a dossier.

Each page can contain multiple visualizations and other dossier objects such as text and images.

Visualization icon

Visualization

To add a visual representation of the data in a dossier, such as a grid, KPI, bar chart, line chart, pie chart, or map.

Other data visualizations include Waterfall, Heat Map, Bubble Chart, Histogram, Box Plot, Network, Sankey Diagram, and Time Series.

You can also use third-party custom visualizations, such as a Bubble Chart, Circle Packing, Collapsible Tree, Stream Graph, Word Cloud, Zoomable Sunburst, Google Timeline, or Sequences Sunburst.

To choose the selector among the following two available options:

  • Element/Value Filter: Use the attribute objects to function like a prompt.

  • Attribute/Metric Selector: Use to make the object list dynamic for a grid or any visualization. You can choose the attributes or metrics at run time.

Add image in a dossier.

To customize the UI and place the Java/HTML code.

Convert to Auto layout icon

Convert to Auto Layout

The default dossier layout.

In auto layout, containers automatically fill the entire canvas, and you can reposition the containers around each other.

Convert to Free-form Layout icon

Convert to Free-form Layout

To organize and overlap the containers that contain your visualizations, filters, selectors, and images.

You can independently position, size, and layer containers on a page.

Responsive View Editor icon

To select the containers for creating a responsive view.

Responsive Preview icon

Responsive Preview

To see your dossier on a small screen, such as a phone or tablet.

You can toggle between a full or responsive preview of your dossier.

Presentation Mode icon

Presentation Mode

To view your dossier in presentation mode.

You cannot make any edits in this mode. To change to editable mode, click on the presentation mode icon.

Show Navigation Bar icon

Show Navigation Bar

To hide or show the navigation bar.

Use the navigation bar to return to the homepage.

Close icon

Close

To close the current dossier view.
