Prolog information
In an Avaya Aura® environment, you can use the Bridged Call Appearance feature through the Avaya Vantage™ built-in UC experience and the Avaya Connect Expansion Module application. This section describes how to use bridged call appearances through the Avaya Vantage™ built-in UC experience.
A bridged call appearance is an appearance of a primary phone number on different user extensions for multiple users to share the number between themselves. You can use the bridged call appearance to make and receive calls on behalf of the primary number owner. You can also join an ongoing call to or from the primary number. For a bridged call appearance to be available on your device, your administrator must set it up on your extension.
You can view all your bridged call appearances on the Avaya Vantage™ built-in UC experience. You can select between your extension or a call appearance to make calls. To make a call on behalf of an extension owner, you must first select the call appearance of the extension and then dial a number. Otherwise, you can use the bridged line extension button on the Expansion Module application to make a call on behalf of the extension owner.
A use case for bridged call appearance is a boss and secretary scenario. In this scenario, the primary number belongs to the boss. The administrator configures the call appearance of the primary number on the secretary’s extension. When someone calls the boss, the boss or the secretary can pick it up. If the secretary answers the call first, the boss can join the active bridged call. If a call comes to the extension of the secretary, the boss cannot see this call or join it.
The secretary can also use the bridged call appearance to make a call on behalf of the boss. After the other party answers the call, the boss can see the active bridged call and join it.
