You can send and receive text-based instant messages with Avaya Vantage™ built-in UC experience. Instant messaging is only available when your administrator enables the feature on Avaya Vantage™.
Avaya Vantage™ built-in UC experience supports instant messaging in the Avaya Aura® environment. The upcoming IP Office Release 11.1.2 will support instant messaging with Avaya Vantage™ built-in UC experience.
Avaya Vantage™ built-in UC experience supports the following instant messaging features:
  • Start an instant messaging conversation with a contact from your contact list, call history, or messages list.
You can send instant messages to a contact added as your enterprise or local contact.
  • Receive group messages and participate in multiparty conversations.
However, you cannot start a multiparty instant messaging conversation through Avaya Vantage™ built-in UC experience.
  • Insert a static emoji supported by the native keyboard into a text message.
  • Add a subject to an instant messaging conversation and edit the subject.
  • View new message alerts in the notification area and open the conversation from the notification area to read. From the notification area, you can also mark a new message as read.
  • Escalate a point-to-point instant messaging conversation to an audio or video call.
You cannot escalate a multiparty conversation to an audio or video call.
Through Avaya Vantage™ built-in UC experience, you currently cannot:
  • Start a multiparty instant messaging conversation.
  • Send and receive attachments in an instant messaging conversation.
  • Send and receive animated emojis.
