FIPS (Federal Information Processing Standard) is a US Government standard. FIPS regulations, specifically FIPS 140 governs the use of encryption and cryptographic services. In Branch Gateway Release 10.2.x, wherever multiple ciphers or MACs exist for a FIPS or non-FIPS mode, the CLI allows inclusion or exclusion of any cipher or MAC. This is allowed only as long as the sets of ciphers and MACs are not empty at the end of the configuration.

The user can indicate a priority ranking which is followed by the gateway’s SSH server during the SSH handshake.
