An answer group contains up to 100 members, which acts as a coverage point for another user. For example, if several secretaries are responsible for answering the redirected calls of a department, you can assign all the secretaries to an answer group. You assign a group number to the answer group, and the coverage path of the department displays that group number. All telephones in an answer group ring (alert) simultaneously. Any member of the group can answer the call.
You can assign the coverage answer group to any telephone, including those administered without hardware. A number identifies each coverage answer group from 1 to the maximum number the Admin Portal configuration can enable. You can identify the members of the group by their extension number.
