Testing the network connection

Last Updated : Oct 29, 2025 |

About this task

Test your network performance to assess the quality of your network connection and identify any issues that could impact audio and video during calls. You can test the connection to a specific IP address or to one of the following network nodes:
  • DNS server

  • Gatekeeper

  • Gateway

  • SIP proxy server

After you complete the network test, you can view the following information:

  • Number of packets transmitted

  • Number of packets received

  • Percentage of the packet loss

  • Ping time

A high packet loss rate can indicate network instability, while increased ping times can indicate a slower Internet connection.

Procedure

  1. On the Diagnostics menu, click Network Test.
  2. On the Network Test page, select a connection type.
  3. If you selected an IP connection, in the Input Address field, enter the IP address to ping.
  4. In the Byte Size field, type the size of the data packets to send.

The maximum packet size is 65,500 bytes.

  5. Click Ping to initiate the network test.

You can see the On Ping message.

  6. To stop the network test and view the results, click Cancel.

You can see the Cancel Ping message.

  7. At the bottom of the network test window, view the test results.
