Setting up echo elimination

Last Updated : Jun 06, 2025 |

About this task

During online meetings and conferences, echo might occur when the sound from a speaker is picked up by a microphone and retransmitted. The created sound loop might disrupt communication. You can eliminate echo, unwanted background noises, voices, and repetitive sounds using the AI Voice Noise Reduction, Acoustic Echo Cancellation, Automatic Gain Control, and Active Noise Reduction features.

Procedure

  1. On the Settings menu, go to Audio > Echo Elimination.
  2. For C130 and C170, to enable echo elimination for the built-in microphones, select the Enable Echo Elimination On The Input Of Microphone check box.
  3. To enable echo elimination for the LINE IN input, select the Enable Echo Elimination On Linear Input check box.
  4. To enable the AI Voice Noise Reduction feature, select the Enable AI Voice Noise Reduction check box.

With AI Voice Noise Reduction, you can remove unwanted background voices and echos.

  5. At the top of the Echo Elimination page, select the Show Advanced Settings check box.
  6. To enable Acoustic Echo Cancellation (AEC), select the Enable AEC check box.

AEC eliminates the echo or feedback during audio and video conferencing.

  7. To enable Automatic Gain Control (AGC), select the Enable AGC check box.

AGC determines the volume level of audio signals and makes the output consistent even if input levels vary.

  8. If you enabled automatic gain control, for the Auto Gain setting, select the audio signal volume level.
  9. To enable Active Noise Reduction (ANR), select the Enable ANR check box.

ANR reduces unwanted background noises from an audio signal. You can use ANR for eliminating continuous and predictable noises.

  10. To detect if participants are on physical mute, select the Enable Mute Detection check box.
  11. If you enabled mute detection, for the Silence detection mode setting, select one of the following options:
    • Adaptive: The codec determines the audio threshold value.

The codec uses the specified threshold value as the starting point and then adjusts it depending on the average audio level of call participants.

    • Fixed: You can manually select the audio threshold value.

All participants with an audio level above the threshold are identified as muted.

  12. For the Silence detection threshold setting, select the audio threshold value.
  13. Click Save.
