Configuring firewall settings

Last Updated : Aug 20, 2024 |

About this task

You can configure firewall settings, including TCP and UDP port ranges, static network address translation (NAT) options, and UDP hole punching. These settings determine the access of external devices to the codec and might impact data flow during calls and conferencing.

Procedure

  1. On the Settings menu, go to Network > Firewall.
  2. On the Firewall page, in the TCP Port Range fields, type the range of ports to open for TCP.
  3. In the UDP Port Range field, type the range of ports to open for UDP.
  4. For the NAT Keep Alive Time setting, select the time interval for sending NAT keepalive messages.
  5. To enable the H.460 extension for firewall traversal, select the Enable H.460 For NAT Traversal Of H.323 Calls check box.

With firewall traversal, video conferencing data can bypass the firewall without compromising security.

  6. To enable static mapping from private to public IP addresses, select the Enable Static NAT check box.
  7. If you enabled static NAT, in the Public IP field, type the codec public IP address.
  8. For the Static NAT Type setting, select the type of the static IP address mapping.
  9. To automatically obtain the public IP address for the codec, select the Auto acquire public IP check box.
  10. To send messages directly between the codec and a network node behind a different NAT, select the Enable UDP Hole Punching check box.
  11. Click Save.
