Configuring H.323 encryption

Last Updated : Aug 20, 2024 |

About this task

You can use the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) algorithm for encrypting your voice and video calls made from the codec. You can choose the length of the AES secret key as 128 or 256 bits. A higher value of the key length provides more security to your call data.

Procedure

  1. On the Settings menu, go to Security > H323 Media Security.
  2. To use AES 256-bit encryption, select the H.235.6 AES-256 check box.
  3. To use AES 128-bit encryption, select the H.235.6 AES-128 check box.
  4. To disable AES encryption, select the Plaintext (unencrypted) check box.

For example, you can disable AES encryption for interoperability reasons or troubleshooting to be able to capture network packets.

  5. Click Save.
