Configuring a SIP account

About this task

Configure the SIP account to make calls from the codec using the SIP protocol. You can also specify the name and realm for SIP authentication and an alternative proxy server to use in case the default server is unavailable.

Procedure

  1. On the Settings menu, go to Account > SIP Account.
  2. On the SIP Account page, to make calls using the SIP account, toggle on the Enable SIP switch.
  3. For the Way Of Collocation setting one of the following options:
    • Manual: To manually configure the SIP account.

    • Unregister: To unregister the account from the call server.

  4. If you selected manual configuration, for the Transport Protocol setting, select one of the following options:
    • Auto: The codec automatically determines the protocol to use for SIP calls.

    • One of the protocols for SIP calls, including TCP, UDP, and TLS.

  5. In the Username field, type the SIP username to authenticate the device before a VoIP session.
  6. In the Password field, type the SIP password.

    The password must match the password value specified on the SIP server to authenticate the codec successfully.

  7. In the Proxy Server field, type the IP address of the proxy server.
  8. Skip the Alternate Proxy Server field as the alternative proxy server is not currently supported.
  9. In the Authentication Username field, type the username to determine that the device is part of the SIP profile.
  10. In the Authentication Realm field, type the IP address or domain name of the server, gateway, or session border controller to use for SIP authentication.
  11. Click Save.
