About this task
You can use this procedure for both FIPS and non-FIPS mode gateways when restoring to the same or a different motherboard. Restoring to a different motherboard requires additional considerations.
Note:
For non-FIPS mode gateways, if you update the configuration master key after performing a backup, the restore operation fails. In this scenario, create a new backup immediately after updating the configuration master key. You cannot update the configuration master key in FIPS mode gateways.
