Branch Gateway firmware upgrade

Last Updated : Nov 03, 2023 |

The software that is used to control the Branch Gateway and the media modules installed on the Branch Gateway is called firmware. You can upgrade the firmware on Branch Gateway and media modules using various tools, each suitable for specific type of installation.

Important:
You can upgrade to Release 10.1 Build 42.4.0 and later from Build 38.20.0 or earlier only after installing Release 7.1.0.5 Build 38.21.3. If you download Release 10.2 prior installing the Release 7.1.0.2 and run the show download software status 10 command, the system displays the following error message:
Incompatible software image for this type of device.

After installing Release 7.1.0.2, you must enable or disable Avaya Logins before downloading Release 10.2 through CLI or SNMP.

You can enable or disable Avaya Logins by using one of the following options:

  1. Use one of the following commands.

    1. login authentication services: To enable Avaya Logins.

    2. no login authentication services: To disable Avaya Logins.

  2. Confirm that Avaya Logins can be enabled or disabled during firmware download. If the confirmation was not completed previously, you can confirm this when you download the software using one of the following commands:

    1. copy ftp SW_imageA

    2. copy ftp SW_imageB

    3. copy scp SW_imageA

    4. copy scp SW_imageB

    5. copy tftp SW_imageA

    6. copy tftp SW_imageB

    7. copy usb SW_imageA

    8. copy usb SW_imageB

    9. copy https SW_imageA

    10. copy https SW_imageB

    11. copyedge scp SW_imageA

    12. copyedge scp SW_imageB

If you upgrade Branch Gateway from Release 7.1.0.x Build 38.21.x to Release 7.1.2 Build 39.xx or later (Build 40.xx) the system will prompt to enable or disable EASG.

Note:

In Release 7.1 or later, the gateway defaults to using TLS 1.2, PTLS, and unencrypted H.248 communication with CM. Use the set link-encryption command to adjust these settings.
