All established calls connected through Session Manager-1 are in the media-preservation mode. Mid-call features are not available when a call is in the media-preservation mode.
Idle agents can make or receive new calls through Session Manager-2.

The Signaling Connector performs simultaneous SIP registration for Session Manager-1 and Session Manager-2 as primary and secondary, respectively. Therefore, the failover is seamless to Workspaces.

When the Session Manager-1 recovers, the failback process configured enables the Contact Center manager to control the fallback to the recovered Session Manager-1. The fallback process enables the SIP endpoints configured with Session Manager-1 as their primary server for recovery.
Depending on the failback process, the Signaling Connector moves the SIP registrations to Session Manager-1.
