Report properties

You can configure report properties in CMS Supervisor or from the ASCII (text) interface.

From the Report Administration page in CMS Supervisor, you can set a timeout value for historical report queries and limit the size of agent groups. These options enable you to impose a system-wide limit on report queries.

The following is a more detailed description of the report properties you can set:

  • Timeout value You can impose a specific time limit, in 1 second increments, on historical report queries. If a report query takes more than X seconds to return data from the Informix database, it times out. You can set the timeout range to a value between 3 and 999 seconds. Alternatively, you can select Never timeout to enable all historical report queries to run for an unlimited amount of time.

  • Agent group size A check box is available to limit the size of an agent group for realtime or historical queries. Clear the check box if you do not want to restrict agent group sizes. If you select this option, the agent group limit is 99 members or less. When this limit is enabled, you cannot run a realtime or historical report that uses an agent group with 100 or more members.

If you change a setting or set a limitation, the change takes effect the next time a report is run and the limit is imposed on all users.

Report limits apply to standard reports, custom reports, designer reports, and reports run from PC Client timetables. In the case of a report running from a timetable, if the report fails due to the set limits, the error is recorded in the elog. If you want to limit the properties of report queries during certain times of the day, you can create two timetables.
