Resource Id: 9338
Monitors whether another user's phone is idle or in use. The Telephone Number field should contain the user's name enclosed in double quotes. On buttons with a text label, the user name is shown.
The actions performed when the button is pressed depend on the state of the target user and the type of phone used. It also depend on whether the user is local or on a remote multi-site network system.
Target User Status

Idle (Lamp off)
  • Calls the user.
Ringing (Slow flash)
  • Call Pickup: Pickup the ringing call.
  • Call: Make a call to the user.

On a Call (Fast flash)
Do Not Disturb (Lamp on)
  • Call: Make a call to the user.
  • Message: Cause a single burst of ringing on the target phone. On some phones, when they end any current call, the phone displays PLEASE CALL and your extension number.
  • Voicemail: Call the user's voicemail mailbox.
  • Auto Callback: Set an automatic callback.
  • Call: Make a call to the user.
  • Voicemail: Call the user's voicemail mailbox.
  • Auto Callback: Set an automatic callback.

Using a User button with other buttons

You can use a User button to indicate the target user when pressing another button that has no configured target user. In cases where the other button uses the phone display for target selection, this is only possible using User buttons on a button module.

Overriding the display of call options

For IP Office 12.2, you can use the NoUser Source Number DISABLE_USERBLF_DND_MENU to override the display of call options shown in the table above and instead have the button make an immediate call to the targeted user. Supported with 9400, 9500, 9600, and J100 Series phones.
For the call to alert a DND user rather than be redirected as per normal DND operation, you must add the button user's number to the targeted user's DND Exceptions list.

Logged out user status display

The IP Office determines the status for logged out users as follows:
  • Logged Out User without Mobile Twinning:
    • If the user has Forward Unconditional enabled, they are shown as idle.
    • If the user does not have Forward Unconditional enabled, they are show as if on DND.
  • Logged Out with Mobile Twinning On:
    • If there are any calls alerting or in progress through the system to the twinned destination, the user status is shown as alerting or in-use as appropriate. This includes the user showing as busy/in-use if they have such a call on hold and they have Busy on Held enabled.
    • If the user enables DND through Mobile Call Control or one-X Mobile client, their status will show as DND.
    • Calls from the system direct to the user's twinned destination number, rather than redirected by twinning, will not change the user's status.
