Configuration Settings

These settings must be edited offline. To enter offline editing, select Menu Bar Current User IconOffline Mode.
Field
Description
IP Address
Default = 192.168.42.1
Sets or shows the IP Office IPv4 address on the LAN.
  • If the IP Office is also acting as a DHCP server for the LAN, this address is also the starting address for the DHCP address range.
IP Mask
Default = 255.255.255.0 or DHCP client.
This is the IP subnet mask used with the IP Address.
Primary Transfer Address
Default = 0.0.0.0 (Disabled)
This setting is available on LAN1 of IP500 V2 systems. Any incoming IP packets without a matching service or session are translated to this address if set.
RIP Mode
Default = None
This setting is available on IP500 V2 systems. Routing Information Protocol (RIP) lets network routers exchange information about device locations and routes. Routes learnt using RIP are known as 'dynamic routes'. The IP Office system also supports 'static routes' though its IP Route settings.
The options are:
Option
Description
None
The LAN does not listen to or send RIP messages
Listen Only (Passive)
Listen to RIP-1 and RIP-2 messages to learn RIP routes on the network.
RIP1
Listen to RIP-1 and RIP-2 messages. Send RIP-1 responses as a sub-network broadcast.
RIP2 Broadcast (RIP1 Compatibility)
Listen to RIP-1 and RIP-2 messages. Send RIP-2 responses as a sub-network broadcast.
RIP2 Multicast
Listen to RIP-1 and RIP-2 messages. Send RIP-2 responses to the RIP-2 multicast address.
Enable NAT
Default = Off
This setting is available on IP500 V2 systems. It controls whether the IP Office should apply NAT to IP traffic from LAN1 to LAN2.
Number of DHCP IP Addresses
Default = 200. Range = 1 to 999.
This defines the number of sequential IP addresses available for DHCP clients.
DHCP Mode
Default = DHCP Client.
Sets the IP Office IPv4 DHCP mode for the LAN. When doing DHCP:
  • For local devices on the LAN:
    • The IP Office allocates LAN devices addresses from the bottom of the available address range upwards.
  • For Dial-in users:
    • The IP Office allocates addresses from the top of the available range downwards.
    • The IP Office will only allocate an address from the same subnet as its own LAN address.
    • If the IP Office is acting as a DHCP server on both LAN1 and LAN2, it allocates available addresses from the LAN1 pool first.
The DHCP options are:
Option
Description
Server
The system functions as a DHCP Server for the LAN, allocating IPv4 addresses when requested to other devices on the network and to PPP Dial-in users.
Disabled
The IP Office system is not a DHCP client or server.
Dial In
The IP Office functions as a DHCP server for PPP Dial-in users only.
Client
The IP Office system requests an IPv4 address from a DHCP server on the LAN.
Advanced
Default = Disabled.
When functioning as a DHCP server, you can configure the IP Office with multiple address pools from which it can issue IPv4 addresses.
  • When enabled, IP Office Web Manager displays the DHCP Pools settings below.

DHCP Pools

You can use DHCP pools to configure multiple sets of IPv4 addresses that the IP Office can allocate when configured as a DHCP server.
  • IP Office Web Manager displays these settings when you have enabled Advanced above.
  • On an IP500 V2 system, you can configure up to 8 pools.
  • On Linux-based IP Office systems, you can configure up to 64 pools.
  • The IP Office uses the IP Address, IP Mask and Number of DHCP IP Addresses settings set on the LAN Settings tab for the first pool.
When these actions are performed:
  • For E129 and B179 SIP phone models, the IP Office triggers a reboot of the phones to renew their IP address lease and apply the new address settings.
  • For the remaining DHCP clients, you must manually reboot the devices to force an IP addresses lease renewal. Otherwise, the devices continue to use the allocated IP addresses until the IP addresses lease time out expires. IP address lease time out is set to three days.
Field
Description
Apply to Avaya IP Phones Only
Default = Off.
When enabled, the IP Office only responds to DHCP requests from Avaya IP phones. Other devices must use static addresses or obtain their address from another DHCP server.
  • In addition, Avaya IP phones will complete DHCP only with a DHCP server configured to support the same Site Specific Option Number (SSON) as set on the phone. For IP Office, the SSON numbers it supports are set on the SystemLAN1VoIP and SystemLAN2VoIP sub-tabs.
  • After changing this setting, you must reboot DHCP client devices to force IP addresses updates.
DHCP Pool
When adding or editing pools, the options are:
Setting
Description
Start Address
Default = Blank
Sets the first IP address in the pool.
Subnet Mask
Default = 255.255.255.0
Sets the subnet mask for addresses issued from the pool.
Default Router
Default = 0.0.0.0
The default router address to include in the DHCP response.
  • For pools issuing IP addresses on the same subnet as the IP Office LAN, entering 0.0.0.0 instructs the IP Office to issue the default router as being the Destination of the IP Route entry that matches the IP address and subnet mask.
  • For pools issuing addresses for a different subnet from the IP Office LAN, you must set the default router to the correct value for devices on that subnet.
Pool Size
Default = 0
Set the number of client IP addresses available in the pool.
The first pool matches the IP Address, IP Mask and Number of DHCP IP Addresses on the LAN Settings sub-tab.
