SIP Link Monitoring

Last Updated : Jul 12, 2021 |

To assist with load balancing and alternate routing, Session Manager allows the configuration and implementation of SIP Link Monitoring controls to adapt and customize for each link to the SM core.

Session Manager determines whether an entity is up or down by sending OPTIONS messages to the SIP entity at set intervals. When links fail, the OPTIONS messages are sent at different intervals to detect link recovery and place them back in service automatically.

SIP Link Monitoring parameters can be defined on the following pages of the System Manager console:

  • Elements > Routing > SIP Entities

  • Elements > Session Manager > Session Manager Administration

On the SIP Entities Details page, you can

  • Use SIP monitoring parameters, defined on the Session Manager Administration page, of the monitoring Session Manager or

  • Override the monitoring parameters of Session Manager and administer monitoring intervals unique to the SIP entity.
