Mapping a location to a region

About this task

This task details how to map a location to a region when you want to assign Location-region policy to a user's communication profile. On the Session Manager Groups page, you can perform the location mapping in the following two ways:

  • Assign individual locations with the desired primary through the fourth region.

  • In the Regions to Assign to selected locations section, select the desired region in order and assign them to multiple locations at once.

Before you begin

  • Ensure that Session Manager and Branch Session Manager instances are on Release 8.1.11 or above.

  • Administer all possible IP Address Patterns to the location on the Elements > Routing > Locations page.

  • Select the Enable Policy Based Assignment of Session Managers option on the Global Settings page.

  • Create a region on the Session Manager Groups page.

Procedure

  1. On the System Manager web console, click Elements > Session Manager > Session Manager Administration > Groups.
  2. Click the Location To Region Mapping tab.
  3. To assign regions to an individual location, do the following:
    1. Select a region from the Primary Region list to assign to the location.
    2. Optional Select a region from the Secondary Region, Third Region, and Fourth Region list to assign to the location.
    3. Click Commit

      System Manager displays the Confirm Location to Region assignments page.

    4. Verify the location to region mapping.
    5. Click Confirm.
  4. To assign regions to multiple locations, do the following:
    1. In the Regions to Assign to selected locations section, select a region from the Primary Regionlist
    2. Optional Select a region from the Secondary Region, Third Region, and Fourth Region list.
    3. Select the locations to assign the regions selected in the Regions to Assign to selected locations section.
    4. Click Assign.

      System Manager assigns the defined regions to the selected locations.

    5. Click Commit

      System Manager displays the Confirm Location to Region assignments page.

    6. Verify the location to region mapping.
    7. Click Confirm.
