In this scenario, during a WAN outage, the features and functionality available to a visiting user depends on the Communication Manager administered to the visiting user.
User administered on the parent Communication Manager
Features: Branch Session Manager provides the same rainy day feature functionality to the visiting user as the user would have at its home branch. Complete Session Manager or Communication Manager feature functionality is available from the Survivable Remote Server (SRS) of the visiting branch.
Device functionality: Branch Session Manager provides the feature buttons and dial plans. Branch Session Manager does not provide the device settings but can be cached in the device. User cannot save contacts and store device settings.
Calling capabilities: A visiting user receives only intra-branch incoming calls. When users from core or different branch call a visiting user through Dial Plan Transparency, the core directs the call to the last known location of the visiting user, or the visiting user's administered home location.
Visiting user can make outbound calls to locations connected to the core or users isolated at their home branch through Dial Plan Transparency feature. User can make outbound calls through the local SRS or PSTN trunk.
User not administered on the parent Communication Manager
Features: Branch Session Manager provides limited feature functionality to the visiting user. Non-Communication Manager feature behavior, which includes basic calling, emergency calls, hold, resume, transfer, and conference are available based on the endpoint type. Subscriptions will not be available. Endpoints operates in non-AST mode.
Device functionality: Branch Session Manager does not provide feature buttons except for call appearances. Default of three call appearances are provided.
