The side pane contains a list of navigation options, which vary depending on the selected tab. The side pane is also connected to the main page. When you select an option from the side pane, the main page displays the corresponding information.

For example, while on the Message tab, the side pane contains a list of all your direct messages, groups, and teams. When you select a conversation, the main page displays the message history for that conversation.
