Utility Server deployment considerations

Last Updated : Jun 10, 2026 |

The Utility Server is an optional component that you can enable when deploying Avaya Aura® Device Services and that offers the file server and firmware management functionality. The Utility Server has its own FQDN and IP address, which is also called the Utility Server virtual IP address (VIP). If you plan to deploy an Avaya Aura® Device Services cluster, consider the following:

  • If you deploy a Avaya Aura® Device Services in multiple data centers or in different subnets, you must use a separate external load balancer for the Utility Server VIP in addition to a load balancer for Avaya Aura® Device Services nodes.

    Note:

For non-cloud deployments, if you deploy a Avaya Aura® Device Services in multiple data centers, a load balancer for the Utility Server VIP must be on the same level as the Global Server Load Balancer for Avaya Aura® Device Services nodes.
