Cause

Cause value 31 reports a normal event when no other cause in the normal class is applicable.

The ISDN network substitutes this cause value for other causes generated within the network that do not have end-to-end significance.

For most cause values with only local significance on tandem calls, Communication Manager maps cause values to Cause value 31. See also Cause value 02.

Cause value 31 can also be used as a return code on BSR polling attempts instead of Cause value 16 or Cause value 17 depending on which cause value has less impact/interaction on the intervening ISDN network.
