Media Gateway Announcement Module Test (#1683)

Last Updated : Oct 12, 2014 |

The Media Gateway Announcement Module test (#1683) is nondestructive and performs the following:

  • Checks the status of the Media Gateway Announcement module–verifies whether the Compact Flash is turned on in the change media gateway administration screen.

  • Makes status inquiries to the Media Gateway Announcement Module–requests for data from the module to inquire whether the module is currently experiencing any problems related to the Compact Flash.

This test runs as part of periodic and scheduled maintenance as well as initialization and analysis.

When running the demand test, the Media Gateway Announcement module can respond with any of the following:

Failure code 1 if the Compact Flash is enabled, but not present, or not recognized, or there are no announcements found after a reset.

Failure code 2 if the Compact Flash is enabled and is present, but there is not enough RAM to support it.

Failure code 4 if the Compact Flash is enabled and is present, but there is not enough memory left on it.

The Media Gateway Announcement module can respond with multiple failures to a single query and make the error condition a combination of errors. If the board has multiple failures, the error codes are effectively in a logical order together.

This test also queries the module for the size of the Compact Flash and the amount of memory used on the Compact Flash.

Note:

Even if the Media Gateway Announcement Module test fails, the announcement module does not go out of service. However, the announcements may not be in good working condition and recording new announcements may fail.
