Writing for international audiences

When you develop user content, think globally. Although not all your content is translated into other languages, users who are not native speakers of English view and use your content.

Many projects depend on localization agencies and in-country verifiers to ensure that Avaya products and documentation are appropriate to use in other countries. Writers can do many things to make the localization process easier and improve the quality of the end results. The process of writing and designing for an international audience is known as internationalization, or sometimes localization enablement.

When you take specific actions to prepare user information for an international audience, you:
  • Increase the accuracy of the localized product.

  • Decrease the time to market the localized product.

  • Decrease the cost of the localized product.
