Adherence to this document helps GIS move closer to realizing the vision of consistent, useful, and easy-to-read content. It also helps to ensure that our customer documentation is compliant with Section 508 accessibility standards.

Remember that this document is a general style guide for standard customer documentation. This document does not describe writing style conventions for articles. The writing style varies slightly for articles. For example, it is acceptable to occasionally use contractions in articles since they use a more informal writing style than other customer documentation.
