Sentences in passive voice do not require a subject. Therefore, if the reader does not need to know who performs the action, passive voice is acceptable.
Tip:
To identify passive voice, look for words such as by, is, are, were, and can be. Use this information as a guideline. The presence of these words is not an automatic indicator of passive voice.
