You can use drill down to describe the process of accessing data in a lower level of a hierarchically-structured database. For example, when you mean to:
Click through a hierarchy of folders on a desktop or a series of menus in a GUI.
Move from general information to detailed data. For example, use drill down when you mean to start a database search with a general category and then move in turn to a file, a field, and then a record.
