New words are necessary to describe new technology. Jargon is useful and acceptable when you write for a technically proficient audience who understands it. Jargon that describes telecommunications and computing equipment, operations, and concepts requires no explanation for a technical audience. When you write about a new product or service, define the new terms at the first reference. If the terms require additional explanation, you can include them in the glossary if applicable for your document. Note that short documents, such as articles and quick reference guides, generally do not contain a glossary.
