The screen reader reads the alt text and surrounding text aloud. Ensure that the alt text you add for an image is concise and descriptive. Avoid mentioning colors because that will likely not be meaningful for a person who is blind or has vision loss.
Use consistent terminology in alt text. For example, use star for the * symbol and use pound for the # symbol.
