Be culturally neutral
Do not use color to indicate meaning. Colors do not convey the same concepts in all countries. For example, red, green, and yellow symbolize stop, start, and caution, respectively, in the United States but not in all other countries.
Do not use ethnocentric images that can be misinterpreted in other countries or cultures.
Use terms that reflect geographic destinations to identify races or ethnic groups and regions.

Do not use the term America when you mean the United States. The United States is a country in North America. The Americas region includes North America, Central America, and South America.
Avoid references to the specific season of the year unless the season is important to the content.
