Do not use elliptic or telegraphic language. To ensure unambiguous interpretation, do not omit words that are important to the meaning of the sentence. Words that elliptic language usually omits include a, an, the, is, are, of, this, these, and all. Elliptic language is often used in software messages and prompts, which writers usually do not control. However, writers must not omit modifiers or important words in headings, captions, tables, or titles.
