Define and use one or more reference points within the image. For example, some Avaya deskphones have a large volume control button that is directly below the LED display. You can use this large button as a point of reference to help the reader with vision loss to locate other buttons. Describe other buttons as being to the left or the right, above or below, or elsewhere relative to this larger, distinctive button.

You can also use the points of the compass and references to clockwise or counter-clockwise to convey the relative placement of elements in the image.
