Cross-reference usage

Last Updated : Aug 05, 2024 |

Cross-references can be internal or external:

  • An internal cross-reference links to another section within the document, such as a procedure or checklist.

  • An external cross-reference links to external content, such as a website.

You can use cross-references in the following situations:

  • To provide context that would not be clear from a relationship table link. You can add a cross-reference inline if required for clarity.

  • In high-level tasks or checklists.

  • In Change history topics.

  • To provide a reference to an external target, such as a website.
