Spell out an acronym the first time you use it in your document, unless the acronym is well-known. Put the acronym in parentheses after the spelled-out form. For example:

Do not spell out well-known acronyms, such as RAM and TCP/IP. If your document has a glossary, you can include a glossary entry for acronyms.
When you expand or use an acronym, do not repeat a part of the term that one of the letters represents.
