Apostrophes

Last Updated : Feb 16, 2023 |

To form the plural of a single letter, add a lowercase s. Add a lowercase s with an apostrophe if not using an apostrophe changes the meaning. For example, if you form the plural of I or A without an apostrophe, you create the words Is or As. Therefore, writing I’s or A’s is more appropriate, but this can still confuse some readers or the localization team. Where possible, rewrite the sentence to eliminate the need to use a plural single letter.

Do not use the possessive form with:
  • Avaya (the name). Instead, use an of phrase, or use only the name Avaya.

  • Product or feature names. Use an of phrase instead.

  • Inanimate objects.
