Configuring the prerequisites for certificate management and usage

Use this procedure to change the policy on the Windows Server running MS SQL Server. You must use the supported JDBC driver and configure the user configuration options available in the Local Group Policy Editor of your server.
  1. Ensure that you are using the supported JDBC driver for System Manager.
    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
    The minimum supported driver is: mssql-jdbc-7.4.1.jre8.jar
  2. To open Local Group Policy Editor on your Windows Server running MS SQL Server, press windows+R, and type gpedit.msc.
    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
    You can also search in Windows Server using gpedit.msc.
  3. Click User ConfigurationAdministrative TemplatesWindows ComponentsMicrosoft Management Console.
  4. On the right panel, right-click Restrict the user from entering author modeEdit.
  5. Select Disabled and click OK.
  6. To choose the restricted or permitted snap-ins, click the Restricted/Permitted snap-ins folder.
  7. On the right panel, right-click Certification AuthorityEdit.
  8. Select Enabled, and click OK.
  9. On the right panel, right-click CertificatesEdit.
  10. Select Enabled, and click OK.
  11. On the right panel, right-click Computer ManagementEdit.
  12. Select Enabled and click OK.
