Language translations

The Language Translations screens display messages and their translations. Telephones display pre-translated messages from Communication Manager, which are available in the following languages:
English
French
Italian
Spanish
You can assign translations in any other language by using the Language Translations screens, but this method is deprecated. Instead, use Avaya Message Editing Tool (AMET) to assign translations for user-defined telephone messages.
If you use an editor other than AMET, the system does not update the Phone Message Files correctly and the files are not installed. For more details, see Avaya Message Editing Tool (AMET) Job Aid.
Note:
If you type user-defined in the Display Language field on the Station screen or the Attendant Console screen and messages are not defined for these screens, the system displays a string of asterisks on all display messages.
Warning:
If you use AMET, Communication Manager blocks access to the SAT user-defined translations-related screens. Therefore, do not use the Language Translations screens.
Warning:
If you do not use AMET, do not edit the user-defined translations-related screens through SAT.

Automatic Wakeup
Use this field to replace the English text for Automatic Wakeup messages that the system displays on the telephone screen.
This screen contains an English version of the display, an explanation of the English message, and a translation of the English message. A long message can be shortened on telephones that display fewer than 32 characters.
Button labels
Use this field to replace the English text for Button labels that the system displays on the telephone screen.
This screen contains an English version of the display, an explanation of the English message, and a translation of the English message. A long message can be shortened on telephones that display fewer than 32 characters.
Enhanced Abbreviated Dialing
Use this field to administer the Enhanced Abbreviated Dialing messages that the system displays on the telephone screen.

Leave Word Calling
Use this field to replace the English text for Leave Word Calling messages that the system displays on the telephone screen.

Malicious Call Trace
Use this field to replace the English text for Malicious Call Trace messages that the system displays on the telephone screen.

Self Administration
Use this field to replace the English text for self administered messages that the system displays on the telephone screen.

Softkey Labels
Use this field to replace the English text for softkey labels that the system displays on the telephone screen.

To provide unique labels for abbreviated dialing button types for softkey labels, Communication Manager replaces the last two characters with digits for the 12-key 8400 and 15-key 8434D telephones.
On this screen, the digits following the AD are derived from the button position. If the first button is an AD button, then it is AD1 and the 15th button is AD15. All the AD buttons between 1 and 15 have the position number appended to AD.
Transfer Conference
Use this field to replace the English text for transfer conference messages that the system displays on the telephone screen.
This screen contains an English version of the display, an explanation of the English message, and a translation of the English message. A long message can be shortened on telephones that display fewer than 32 characters.
View Buttons
Use this field to replace the English text for buttons that the system displays on the telephone screen.
