Administered Connection

Last Updated : Aug 21, 2014 |

Use the Administered Connection screen to assign an end-to-end Administered Connection (AC) between two access endpoints or data endpoints. The system establishes the AC after a restart or when the AC is active.

To change the value of the fields on the Administered Connection screen, use the following command:

change administered-connection n, where n is the AC number.

Connection Number

This field displays the AC number.

Destination

Use this field to specify the address of the destination access endpoint or data endpoint. The endpoint can be remotely connected to the server on which the AC is assigned.

You can enter one of the following:

  • A local extension that is assigned to an access endpoint or a data endpoint

  • An Abbreviated Dialing entry

The value must be consistent with the dial plan.

Enable

Use this field to enable Communication Manager to establish the AC when the AC is active.

Valid entry

Usage

y

Communication Manager attempts to establish the AC when the AC is active. The default value is y.

n

Communication Manager does not attempt to establish the AC when the AC is active.

Name

Use this field to enter the name of the AC. You can enter up to 27 alphanumeric characters.

Note:

Avaya BRI deskphones support only ASCII characters because non-ASCII characters, such as Eurofont and Kanafont, show up incorrectly.

Originator

Use this field to specify an assigned access endpoint extension or data module extension. The endpoint must be registered with the same instance of Communication Manager on which you administered the nonsignaling DS1 trunk or the analog tie trunk.

AUTHORIZED TIME OF DAY

Continuous

Use this field to schedule the AC to be active for the entire time. The AC is reestablished if the connection fails.

Valid entry

Usage

y

The AC is active for the entire time. The default value is y.

n

The AC is active only for the scheduled days and times.

Duration

Use this field to specify the duration for which the scheduled AC must remain active. The maximum duration is 167:59. The system displays this field only if you set the Continuous field to n.

Valid entry

Usage

000 to 167

To enter the duration in hours.

00 to 59

To enter the duration in minutes.

Start Days (Sun through Sat)

Use the following fields to specify the days when an attempt is made to establish the AC:

  • Sun

  • Mon

  • Tue

  • Wed

  • Thu

  • Fri

  • Sat

The system displays these fields only if you set the Continuous field to n. The start days can be the days when the AC is inactive. A scheduled AC might be active over a number of days. In this situation, use the fields only to specify the days when the AC starts.

Start Time

Use this field to specify the time of day when Communication Manager must establish the AC. You can enter a value from 00:00 to 23:59. The system displays this field only if you set the Continuous field to n.

MISCELLANEOUS PARAMETERS

Alarm Threshold

Use this field to specify the number of attempts to establish or reestablish an AC that must fail consecutively before the system generates an AC alarm. For example, If you set this field to 1, the system generates an alarm after the first failure. You can enter a value from 1 to 10. The default value is 5.

The system displays this field only if you set the Alarm Type field to a value other than none.

Alarm Type

Use this field to specify the type of alarm generated when:

  • The AC cannot be established.

  • The AC cannot be reestablished after a failure.

  • The number of consecutive failures equals the alarm threshold.

Valid entry

Usage

warning

For failures that do not cause significant degradation of service. These alarms are not reported to the attendant console or Initialization and Administration System (INADS).

major

For failures that cause critical degradation of service and require immediate attention.

minor

For failures that:

  • Cause degradation of service, but continue to support a crucial part of the system.

  • Require action, but the consequences of the failure are gradual.

  • Interfere with a feature or impair the services to trunks or stations.

none

For disabling the alarm notification.

Auto Restoration

Use this field to enable the system to reestablish the AC that failed. The Auto restoration field is available only for the AC that is established over an ISDN Software Defined Data Network (SDDN) trunk group.

Priority

Use this field to specify the order in which the ACs are established. You must enter a value from 1 to 8. The highest priority is 1, and the lowest priority is 8. The default priority is 5.

Retry Interval

Use this field to specify the duration between the attempts to establish or reestablish the AC. You must enter the duration in minutes. The default value is 2 minutes.
