Signaling group: page 2

Last Updated : Oct 29, 2012 |

This screen must be filled in for ATM signaling groups. It provides two functions:

  • Defines fractional T1 and fractional E1 facilities, specifying how many and which channels to use.

  • Specifies the port numbers to use. Port numbers must be unique for all signaling boards on the same ATM board.

Available only if Group Type is atm.

LIMIT SIGNALING GROUP USAGE

The LIMIT SIGNALING GROUP USAGE screen is available only if the Group Type field is set to h.323 or sip, and the Near-end Node Name field is set to procr. Use this screen to control where H.323 and SIP trunks are used.

Enable on Survivable Processors (ESS and LSP)

Valid Entry

Usage

all

To enable the signaling group and the associated trunks on both - Survivable core server (Enterprise Survivable Server (ESS)) and Survivable remote server (Local Survivable Processor (LSP)).

ess-all

To enable the signaling group and the associated trunks on Survivable core server (Enterprise Survivable Server) but not on Survivable remote server (Local Survivable Processor).

none

To block the signaling group and the associated trunks on survivable processors and free system resources.

selected

To specify which survivable processors can use the signaling group and the associated trunks.

Enable on the Main Processor(s)

Use the Enable on the Main Processor(s) field to enable or disable the signaling group and the associated trunks on the main server.

Valid Entry

Usage

y

To enable the signaling group and the associated trunks on the main server.

n

To disable the signaling group and the associated trunks on the main server.

Selected Survivable Processor Node Names

The Selected Survivable Processor Node Names field is available only if you set the Enable on Survivable Processors (ESS and LSP) field to selected. Use this field to specify the node names of the survivable processors that can use the signaling group and the associated trunks.

SIGNALING GROUP

Chan Port

Valid Entry

Usage

009 to 256

blank

The port number for non-signaling channels.

The signaling channel (port 16 for an E1 and port 24 for a T1) must be a port between 9 and 32. A port number used here cannot be used on any other ATM signaling group on the same board.

The channels used must match exactly the channels used on the other end of the signaling group. For example, if your T1 is set up to use channels 1 through 5, 7, and 24 (the signaling channel), the far end must also use channels 1 through 5, 7, and 24.

Enable Failover Event Package Subscription

Note:

This field complies with the Unified Capabilities Requirements (UCR) 2008 Change 3 requirements and is approved by Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC). This field is available only for the USA Department of Defense (DoD) and approved Federal government customers.

This field is available only when you set the Multiple Level Precedence & Preemption field on the System parameters customer options screen to y.

For Communication Manager to send and receive failover notify messages, you must configure CCA-ID on the Multiple Level Precedence & Preemption screen.

Note:

MLPP is a customer option. Therefore, you can change the parameters only through a license change.

Valid Entry

Usage

over

y

Displays the option request parameters on the screen.

n

Does not display the option request parameters on the screen. The default value is n.

Failover/failback Signaling-group Pair

Note:

This field complies with the Unified Capabilities Requirements (UCR) 2008 Change 3 requirements and is approved by Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC). This field is available only for the USA Department of Defense (DoD) and approved Federal government customers.

Type the Signaling group that connects to the primary Multi-Function Soft Switch (MFSS) or secondary MFSS.

A lower signaling group number is always the number assigned to the primary MFSS from the pair of signaling groups.

Valid Entry

Usage

SIP signaling-group number

The number that connects to the far-end MFSS.

Blank

The field is blank by default.

OPTIONS Request Parameters

Note:

This field complies with the Unified Capabilities Requirements (UCR) 2008 Change 3 requirements and is approved by Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC). This field is available only for the USA Department of Defense (DoD) and approved Federal government customers.

The system displays the OPTIONS Request Parameters fields on the screen only when you set the Enable Failover Package Subscription field to y.

Communication Manager creates and sends periodic OPTIONS messages to the MFSS. OPTIONS Request Parameters on the Signaling group screen monitor the interval between OPTIONS messages.

Interval between OPTIONS messages (seconds)

The interval time for Communication Manager to send OPTIONS requests to MFSS.

You can enter a number from 30 to 900 in increments of 10. The default value is 60.

Number of OPTIONS message failure before failover

The number of OPTIONS messages that Communication Manager sends to the far-end MFSS without getting a response. A failover is triggered when the far-end MFSS does not respond to the OPTIONS messages.

You can enter a number from 1 to 10. The default value is 2.

Number of OPTIONS message successes before failback

The number of successful OPTIONS messages that Communication Manager sends to the far-end MFSS. A failback is triggered when the far-end MFSS starts responding to the OPTIONS messages.

You can enter a number from 1 to 10. The default value is 2.

Wait time before failback (seconds)

The time taken for Communication Manager to failback to the primary MFSS after the far-end MFSS starts responding to the OPTIONS messages.

You can enter 1 or any number from 10 to 250 in increments of 10.
