EXTENSION DISPLAY FORMATS

The fields in this section of the screen override similar fields on the Dial Plan Parameters screen. If you leave these fields blank, the values on the Dial Plan Parameters screen apply.

Default Call Appearance Display Format

Affects call appearances only on telephones that support downloadable call appearance buttons, such as the 2420 and 4620 telephones. Bridged call appearances remain unaffected.

Valid Entry

Usage

inter-location

The complete extension on downloadable call appearance buttons. This is the default.

intra-location

A shortened version of the extension on downloadable call appearance buttons.

Display between Locations with these Display Parameters

The system displays this field only when you enable the Multiple Locations field. This field cannot be left blank.

Valid Entry

Usage

inter-location

Communication Manager uses the inter-location display format for calls between designated locations. This is the default value.

intra-location

Communication Manager uses the intra-location display format for calls within a location. You can use the intra-location format within a branch to display short extensions within that location. This Display Parameter lets you display short extensions between two or more closely associated locations. For example, if you assign display parameter 3 to locations 7 and 17, and set the field to intra-location, Communication Manager uses intra-location format for calls between locations 7 and 17, however uses inter-location calls from 7 to any other location other than 17, and for calls from 17 to any other location other than 7.

Extension Display Format

Use this field to specify how the system must punctuate extensions for inter-location and intra-location displays. Blank spaces are sometimes used in telephone extensions, especially outside of the U.S. Dots (.) are used on SAT screens in place of blanks.

The number of punctuation marks that you can use is determined by the number of xs in the format:

  • If the format contains fewer than six xs, there can be no punctuation marks.

  • If the format contains six or more xs, the maximum number of punctuation marks is determined by the following table.
