Certificate management overview

Last Updated : Apr 30, 2021 |

AE Services uses security certificates to set up a secure communication between the server and clients.

You must install your own certificates signed by your Private Key Infrastructure (PKI) or a third-party PKI vendor. If such resources are unavailable, you can use a temporary AE Services self-signed certificate. The standard certificate is valid for one year. You must deploy your own certificates before the standard certificate expires. If you do not install certificates, you cannot use secure connections for AE Services.

You can use one of the following options to create the new AE Services server certificate:

  • Your own PKI

  • An open-source PKI

  • A third-party vendor

  • OpenSSL for creating your own certificate authority (CA)

If none of the listed options are suitable for you, contact Avaya services for additional assistance.

AE Services supports only one AE Services server certificate. Do not upload multiple third-party server certificates on the AE Services server.

If you upgrade from AE Services Release 5.x or 6.x to AE Services Release 7.x and later, you must update the client certificates. In a production environment, Avaya recommends that you update your client applications and AE Services server with your own certificates.
