DMCC licensing

The DMCC service provides control of devices and media streams and a subset of third-party call control services.

DMCC licenses are used to register a DMCC endpoint with Avaya Contact Center – Extended Capacity for first-party call control. A DMCC license is required for each endpoint registered through DMCC.

DMCC requires two types of licenses:

  • For Device and Media Control service: Licenses displayed as VALUE_DMCC_DMC in the AE Services licensing file.

  • For Call Control service: TSAPI Basic User license.

The DMCC service acquires one license at a time from the WebLM server. Accessing the WebLM server for each license request can have impact on the performance of a DMCC application. You can reduce the time for registering endpoints by reserving DMCC licenses.

When you reserve DMCC licenses, the DMCC service acquires several licenses at the time of the first registration by sending a single request to the WebLM server. AE Services allocates one license immediately for the initial registration and holds the rest of the licenses in reserve for future registrations. If more licenses are required, the DMCC service acquires another batch of licenses equal to the number of reserved licenses until it uses all licenses available on WebLM. When the endpoints are unregistered, the DMCC service releases licenses back to WebLM.
