Considerations for adding a CMS user

Last Updated : Nov 03, 2024 |

Consider the following before adding a user:

  • A user ID must be created before any permissions can be assigned to it.

  • The following internal CMS user IDs cannot be added as regular CMS users: inads, sroot, init, craft, con, nul, aux, com1 through com9, and lpt1 to lpt9.

  • If you add a user through an operating system utility, such as useradd, they must use the su command to assume the role of a valid CMS user. Users created through an operating system utility have the shell type /usr/bin/ksh. The User Data page in CMS Supervisor does not display users that were created using an operating system utility.

  • Users added through the User Data page will automatically have CMS launch when they log in. The shell for these users is /usr/bin/cms.
