User data descriptions

The following table describes the options you configure for a user. You can change some of these options when modifying a user.

Field

Definition

User ID

This is a required field. Enter a user ID that contains 3 to 31 characters. LDAP-authenticated users are limited to 20 characters. This is a limitation of LDAP, not CMS.

The user ID can include underscores, hyphens, or periods. Do not include other punctuation, spaces, or special characters.

User Name

Enter a name for the user. You do not need to complete this field to add the user.

Room Number

Add a room number. This is an optional field.

Phone Number

Enter a phone number for the user. This is an optional field.

Printer

This is an optional setting. Ensure that the printer name matches the printer administered on the CMS server.

Login type

Select one of the following user types when creating a user:

  • Normal user: Select this option for a user that does not perform maintenance and administration tasks on CMS. By default, normal users have Read permissions for most features.

  • Administrator: Select this option for users that need to perform maintenance and administration tasks. By default, administrators have Write permissions for all features.

  • Tenant user: Select this option to provide limited tenant access to a user. Tenant users have limited access to CMS administration and reporting data. They can only access data for the tenants to which they are assigned. Tenant users can view their own user information but they cannot modify it and they also cannot add or modify other users.

You can modify users after they are created. When modifying a user, you can change their designation from a normal user to an administrator or the other way around. However, changing the role when modifying a user does not change the assigned permissions. You must change the permissions manually.

You cannot change the tenant user designation. If you want to change the tenant user designation, you can delete the user and then add the user again.

LDAP Authentication

Select this check box to identify the user as an LDAP-authenticated user. For more information about LDAP integration, see Avaya Call Management System Overview and Specification.

Maximum user window count (1-12)

Enter the number of CMS Supervisor windows that the user can have open simultaneously. The default for this field is 4.

Note that having multiple windows open consumes more CMS processor resources.

Minimum refresh rate (seconds)

Enter the number of seconds from 3 to 300 for the refresh rate. Real-time report data for the user is retrieved from the database at this interval.

Faster refresh rates consume more CMS processor resources.

Login ACD

Select the ACD that the user will use to log in. The user can change the current ACD after logging in, but the ACD defaults to the value you set at the next login.

This is a required setting that you must configure when adding a user.

Enterprise ID

Enter the enterprise ID.

The enterprise ID is usually blank. However, you can map your enterprise ID to a CMS username that does not match the normal rules including all numeric values. Enterprise ID is only applicable when a user is logging in from the CMS Web Supervisor using the Enterprise Sign In button.

The enterprise ID is validated for authentication when the primary user ID does not match a CMS username. Authentication for the primary user ID fails, especially in customer scenarios where only the numeric IDs are used as the user principal name (UPN) in the enterprise SSO platform.

For example, 123456@exampledomain.com is the username that the supervisor uses to log in to the enterprise platform. However, CMS does not support new users with all numeric IDs. Hence, you can enter the enterprise ID as 123456 to map it to the CMS username.
