Google TTS Prompt Language

Last Updated : May 03, 2022 |

Whilst the auto-attendant greeting and announcement prompts are recorded in a language of your choice, some of the auto-attendant actions may play additional prompts provided by the system. In that case, the language used for those system provided prompts is determined in several ways.

System Type

Language Setting

Fixed Language

If the system's Google Speech AI, or the auto-attendant’s/system conferences Speech AI is set to a specific language, that language is used for all the system and TTS prompts.

Call Locale Based Language

If the system’s Google Speech AI language is set to Off, the language used for the auto-attendant’s system prompts is determined from the locale associated with the call.

  • Incoming Call Route Locale: If the caller is external, the incoming call route locale is used if set.

  • User Locale: If the caller is internal, the user locale is used if set.

  • System Locale: If no user or incoming call route locale is set, the system locale is used unless overridden by a short code locale.

  • Short Code Locale: The short code locale is used, if set, if the call is routed to voicemail using the short code. This overrides the other locale settings.
