RTCP multiplexing

Last Updated : Jun 01, 2023 |

Real-time Transport Control Protocol Multiplexing (RTCP-Mux) is a process where RTP and RTCP share the same socket and connection instead of using two separate connections. In this mechanism, RTP and RTCP share the same channel for the incoming stream towards the Avaya SBC. In turn, the Avaya SBC demultiplexes the RTCP messages and sends them to the odd port of Avaya Aura® or any other PBX. RTCP multiplexing reduces the number of ports that must be managed and reduces the resources required to get a session to work through a firewall or a NAT device.

The feature integrates with MS Teams networks as the current drivers.

Note:

Avaya SBC is administered with RTCP Mux support in Media rules and is only applicable in MS Team networks. This configuration is disabled by default.
