Registering an existing J100 series phone

Last Updated : Feb 23, 2024 |

About this task

Register a J100 series phone you own to the Avaya Cloud Office™ phone system using an available phone entry. Assigned and unassigned phone entries are found on the User Phones and the Unassigned subtabs, respectively.

You can also add new phone entries free of charge.

Before you begin

  • Ensure that you have at least one phone entry without a registered phone. To verify whether a phone entry has a registered phone, check its serial number. If a phone entry does not have a serial number, it is available.

  • Ensure that the deskphone you are registering is within your reach.

  • Obtain the administrator password for the phone. The default administrator password is 27238. If you do not know the password, contact Avaya Support.

  • Obtain the alphanumeric MAC address of the phone. On J100 series phones, the MAC address is located underneath the phone.

Procedure

  1. From the Admin Portal homepage, navigate to Phone System > Phones & Devices.
  2. Click Unassigned or User Phones.
  3. Click an available phone entry.

Giving a descriptive name to the phone entry you are using helps distinguish it quickly.

  4. Optional To change the name of the phone entry, in the Name field, enter a name.
  5. Click Set Up and Provision.

Avaya Cloud Office Service Web displays the Setup & Provisioning window.

  6. On the Select Device tab, in the Select your model to begin field, type the model name for the phone and select it from the list.
  7. Click Next.

Avaya Cloud Office Service Web displays the Provisioning tab, where you can see the instructions for the phone model.

  8. On the J100 series phone you are registering, press Menu.
  9. Select Administration.
  10. On the Administration screen, enter the administrator password.
  11. Select Reset to defaults > Reset.

The phone resets to factory settings and reboots.

  12. Back on Admin Portal, on the Provisioning tab, in the MAC Address field, enter the phone MAC address.
  13. Click Next.
  14. On the Finish tab, in the Enter PIN section, locate and note down the 8-digit enrollment code.
  15. Click Done.
  16. Back on the phone, after it reboots, on the auto-provisioning screen, select Yes.

The phone starts the auto-provisioning process.

  17. In the Enter enrollment code field, enter the 8-digit enrollment code.
  18. Select Enter.

Selecting Enter triggers a software update for the phone. The phone might reboot single or multiple times. After the update, Avaya Cloud Office Service Web registers the phone on the selected phone entry.
