Registering an existing SIP compatible phone

Last Updated : Feb 20, 2024 |

About this task

Register a SIP-compatible phone you own to the Avaya Cloud Office™ phone system using an available phone entry. Assigned and unassigned phone entries are found on the User Phones and the Unassigned subtabs, respectively.

You can also add new phone entries free of charge.

Note:

The phone registration process differs depending on the brand and model of the phone. This procedure provides general directions for registering any SIP-compatible phone you own.

Before you begin

  • Ensure that you have at least one phone entry without a registered phone. To verify whether a phone entry has a registered phone, check its serial number. If a phone entry does not have a serial number, it is available.

  • Ensure that the deskphone you are registering is within your reach.

Procedure

  1. From the Admin Portal homepage, click Phone System > Phones & Devices.
  2. Click Unassigned or User Phones.
  3. Click an available phone entry.

Giving a descriptive name to the phone entry you are using helps distinguish it quickly.

  4. Optional To change the name of the phone entry, in the Name field, enter a name.
  5. Click Set Up and Provision.

Avaya Cloud Office Service Web displays the Setup & Provisioning window.

  6. On the Select Device tab, in the Select your model to begin field, type the model name for the phone and select it from the list.

If you cannot find the phone model, click Set up manually using SIP and follow the instructions on the Finish tab.

  7. Click Next.
  8. On the Provisioning tab, follow the instructions for your phone model.
  9. Click Next.
  10. On the Finish tab, from the Outbound Proxy list, select the outbound proxy according to the location of the phone.
  11. Click Done.

Avaya Cloud Office Service Web registers the phone on the selected phone entry.
