Configuring SNMP FP traps

Last Updated : Oct 27, 2023 |

About this task

Configuring SNMP FP traps is optional. You can configure the LSP to send SNMP traps to a receiver located at the core or in a subnetwork reachable by the main Communication Manager but not from the LSP subnetwork.

Configure FP traps for Edge topology using the follow procedure.

Note:

Configure the same trap destination on the main Communication Manager to be forwarded.

Ensure that the trap destinations are configured on the main Communication Manager before configuring them on the LSP.

If main Communication Manager was not yet configured, after configuring main, run the LSP shell command ‘awtun_config restart’.

Procedure

  1. On the SMI page, navigate to Administration > Server (Maintenance).
  2. Under the SNMP section, click FP Traps.
  3. To add traps, click Add/Change button.

To change the existing trap, select the entry from the Current Settings section and click the Add/Change button.

  4. In the Add Trap Destination section, select enable in dropdown of the Edge field.
  5. Enter FQDN/IP address, which is the destination of the data center.

The FQDN/IP address field is displayed when the Edge field is enabled. The destination set on the LSP must be the same as the destination used by the main Communication Manager.

    Note:

The Edge field is not displayed on the FP Traps page of the main Communication Manager server.

  6. Enter the Community Name as public.
  7. Click the Submit button to save the modifications on both the Local Survivable Processor (LSP) and main Communication Manager server FP Traps page.

To delete the traps, select the entry from the Current Settings section and click Delete.

    Note:

If a loopback address (127.x.y.z) is assigned to the LSP, then SNMP traps will be sent from the main Communication Manager IP address. To determine the source of SNMP v2c traps, among the LSP or main Communication Manager, you can use a different SNMP community. SNMP v1 traps contain the agent address and hence the source IP is available.
