Creating and activating an encryption key

About this task

You must create and activate an encryption key to encrypt or decrypt databases.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the Omnichannel Database server.
  2. Start the Oceana Data Management utility.
  3. In the Oceana Data Management utility, click Encryption.
  4. In the navigation pane, click Data Encryption.
  5. In the Key location field, click Browse.
  6. Select the directory where you want to store the encryption key.

    The default directory is C:/Users/<current_user_name>/Documents.

  7. In the Open dialog box, in the File name field, do one of the following:
    • To continue with the default name enc, click Open.

    • To use a new name, type the name for the encryption key and click Open.

  8. In the Username field, type a username for the encryption key.
  9. In the Password field, type a password for the encryption key.
  10. In the Confirm Password field, retype the password.
  11. Click Create and activate key.

    The Oceana Data Management utility displays the following message:

    Database encryption key successfully enabled.
